Irritating…
Know what really irritates me… The FAFSA. Yes. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Because it really does not provide student aid. It provides false hope. It provides unnecessary strife. I cannot wait until next year, I’ll FINALLY be able to get federal aid. And they better give it to me.
The following are not valid reasons why a student can be considered non-dependant on their parents:
- The parents refuse to give financial information
- The parents are not going to contribute to pay for college
- The parents do not claim the student as a dependent on their taxes
- The student does not live with their parents
I’m telling you, it really screws the kids that are not getting any aid from their parents for school, legitimately. There should be a clause, you should be able to sign papers or something, and have your bank account monitored… or I don’t know… something. I sure could use money from the government for school. It’s 25,000 for Depaul per year, let’s just hope they give me lots of monies.
All the transcripts have been ordered, all the applications are in, now it’s just the waiting game. Waiting and waiting for the news… the offers… I just want to know, so I can start to plan what’s going to happen after COD.
I’m confused. I file as independent now. You should be able to, as well.
